AWS Billing Transfer: Simplifying Multi-Organization Billing for Resellers and Customers

December 16, 2025

Managing cloud costs across multiple organizations has always been a challenge for enterprises and AWS Partners. Today, AWS introduces Billing Transfer, a new capability that allows centralized billing management across multiple AWS Organizations. This feature enables AWS Resellers to streamline billing operations, improve cost visibility, and assume payment responsibility for their customers—all while maintaining security and governance autonomy.
For AWS Resellers, Billing Transfer is more than a convenience—it’s a strategic advantage that simplifies financial operations and strengthens customer relationships.

Why Billing Transfer Matters

Enterprises operating in multi-organization environments often face billing complexity. Traditionally, billing administrators had to log into each organization’s management account to collect invoices and process payments. This decentralized approach creates inefficiencies and increases operational overhead.

Billing Transfer solves these challenges by

  • Centralizing Billing Management: Use a single management account to manage invoices and payments across multiple organizations.
  • Improving Cost Visibility: Access consolidated cost data for all linked accounts.
  • Maintaining Security Autonomy: Individual organizations retain full control over their security and governance settings.
  • Protecting Pricing Data: Integrates with AWS Billing Conductor to control cost visibility.

Benefits for Customers

  • Simplified Billing Operations: No more juggling multiple accounts for invoice collection and payment.
  • Comprehensive Cost Analysis: Access detailed cost data through AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, and AWS Budgets.
  • Governance Autonomy: Each organization maintains its own security and compliance controls.
  • Tax and Payment Flexibility: Billing Transfer applies tax and payment settings from the centralized account, ensuring consistency.

Benefits for Resellers

  • Streamlined Resale Operations: Assume billing responsibility for multiple customers under one account.
  • Enhanced Customer Experience: Provide consolidated billing and cost reporting for easier financial management.
  • Control Over Pricing Visibility: Use AWS Billing Conductor to manage proprietary pricing data.
  • Scalable Financial Management: Reduce complexity as your customer base grows. By leveraging Billing Transfer, AWS Resellers can offer a frictionless billing experience, positioning themselves as trusted partners in cloud financial management.

How Billing Transfer Works

  1. Send an Invitation: The external management account sends a billing transfer invitation to the bill-source account.
  2. Accept the Transfer: Once accepted, the external account becomes the bill-transfer account, managing and paying for the bill-source account’s consolidated bill.
  3. Manage Costs Centrally: View transferred invoices, payments, and cost data in AWS Cost Explorer and related tools.
  4. Maintain Flexibility: Either party can withdraw the transfer at any time.

Getting Started

To enable Billing Transfer:

  • Navigate to Billing and Cost Management Console.
  • Choose Preferences and Settings → Billing Transfer.
  • Send invitations to bill-source accounts and configure pricing plans via AWS Billing Conductor.

Billing Transfer is available in all commercial AWS Regions today. For detailed documentation, contact your MUK AWS Manager.
