AWS Introduces Claude Platform on AWS: Anthropic's Native Platform Is Now Available Through AWS Accounts
May 26, 2026
AWS has announced the general availability of Claude Platform on AWS, a new service that allows customers to use Anthropic's native platform without separate contracts, billing systems, or accounts. Access to Claude Platform is now available directly through existing AWS accounts.
AWS has become the first cloud provider to offer customers access to the full native Claude environment through its own infrastructure and AWS ecosystem.
What Is Claude Platform on AWS
Claude Platform on AWS provides access to the same APIs, tools, and management console available to Anthropic customers directly.
Available capabilities include:
- Claude Messages API
- Claude Managed Agents (beta)
- Advisor Tool (beta)
- Web Search and Web Fetch
- MCP Connector (beta)
- Agent Skills (beta)
- Code Execution
- Files API (beta)
Essentially, customers receive the complete set of native Claude Platform capabilities while leveraging their existing AWS infrastructure.
AWS Integration: IAM, Marketplace, and CloudTrail
One of the key advantages of the new service is its integration with standard AWS mechanisms.
Authentication via AWS IAM
Users can leverage existing AWS IAM credentials to access Claude Platform.
This means:
- no separate accounts;
- no need to manage third-party API keys;
- centralized access management aligned with corporate security policies.
Billing Through AWS Marketplace
Claude Platform on AWS usage is billed through AWS Marketplace using a consumption-based model.
For businesses, this provides several advantages:
- consolidation of AI spending alongside other AWS services;
- a unified financial control and procurement process;
- the ability to analyze costs through AWS Cost Explorer;
- resource tagging for internal cost allocation.
Auditing and Monitoring via AWS CloudTrail
API calls, user activity, and operations within Claude Platform on AWS can be logged through AWS CloudTrail.
This enables organizations to apply familiar approaches to:
- activity auditing;
- AI service usage monitoring;
- internal compliance controls;
- security incident investigations.
Getting Started
Claude Platform on AWS is activated through AWS Marketplace.
The basic onboarding flow consists of three steps:
1. Create a Workspace
A Workspace is used to separate teams, environments, or projects with centralized administration and billing.
It also acts as the primary IAM resource for configuring access policies.
2. Configure Authentication
Two authentication options are supported:
- IAM + AWS Signature Version 4, recommended for production environments and higher security requirements;
- API Keys, a quick option for testing and getting started.
3. Make the First API Request
After configuration, customers can use Anthropic SDKs and send requests to Claude models directly through Claude Platform on AWS.
The service also supports integration with:
- Claude Code
- Claude Cowork
- third-party API clients
- agent workflows
- file operations and code execution
Practical Business Use Cases
Claude Platform on AWS may be especially valuable for organizations already operating within the AWS ecosystem and looking to quickly integrate GenAI capabilities into their workflows.
Potential use cases include:
AI Assistants and Knowledge Systems
Information retrieval, internal assistants, and enterprise knowledge bases.
AI Agents and Process Automation
Managed agents, workflow orchestration, and integrations.
Code and DevOps Workflows
Code generation, code analysis, automation scripts, and engineering copilots.
Enterprise GenAI Scenarios
Integrating AI services into enterprise applications using standard AWS governance and control mechanisms.
An Important Consideration
AWS specifically notes that Claude Platform on AWS is managed by Anthropic, and requests and data are processed outside the AWS security boundary.
As a result, the service may be particularly suitable for organizations without strict regional data residency requirements.
At the same time, the solution complements Claude models in Amazon Bedrock, allowing customers to choose the approach that best fits their business and compliance requirements.
Availability Regions
At launch, Claude Platform on AWS is available in multiple AWS regions, including:
- US East
- US West
- Canada
- Europe (Frankfurt, London, Paris, Dublin, Milan, Zurich, Stockholm)
- Asia Pacific
- South America
Claude Platform on AWS expands the possibilities for using generative AI within the AWS ecosystem by providing customers with access to Anthropic's native experience through familiar AWS tools.
Integration with IAM, CloudTrail, Marketplace, and the AWS governance model makes the service an attractive option for companies already operating in the AWS environment and planning to scale their GenAI initiatives.
